Julieta
Ángel Lara V. (Costa Rica)
Located at Paseo Del Mar, Las Catalinas.
Inspired by a special story in the history of Las Catalinas, Julieta pays tribute to a moment of discovery and the promise of new beginnings.
When the Brewer family, founders of Las Catalinas, first visited the land that would eventually become the town, they encountered sea turtles hatching, a beautiful sign of life, growth, and new opportunities. This memory became the inspiration for artist Ángel Lara V. to create this sculpture, which he named Julieta because she gazes toward the balcony of Casa Brewer.
Forged from 3 mm stainless steel, the sculpture is made from remnants saved by the artist from monuments he has created throughout Costa Rica. Pieces of metal that once formed part of other works now come together to give life to a new creation, carrying fragments of the country's artistic and cultural landscape.
More than a sculpture, Julieta is a celebration of renewal, connection, and the stories that shape a place. Visitors are warmly invited to take photos with her and become part of the story, creating their own memories alongside this special resident of Las Catalinas.
